'Gudu-guduwa' Coming Together
2014 - 2015
70cm x 95cm
Ink on Paper

The patterns and shapes in the artwork are based on traditional basket weaving, leaves, roots, and other natural forms.  The art of basket weaving shows the relationship and balance between Aboriginal people, the landscape and the natural world.  Thousands of fibres are connected together to form one strong structure and I see this as a reflection of the strength of Aboriginal people when communities come together as one.

Description:

This drawing emerged from childhood memories of exploring and immersing myself in the natural world and it expresses the movement and aliveness found in plants and natural forms.  The patterns are based on the shapes of petals, leaves, passionfruit seeds and flowers and they are woven together with vines and stems.
